Ya;; you read it correctly. I moved here from sunny, sunny Arizona. With some of the best bass fishing in the world. SO I need some help in finding some lake close to SF that has some nice bass in it. You know good for a one day trip. Then other lakes for a weekend trip. I also like panfish. So if they are around; let me know on them also. Hope to make some friends on this board.  I will say it now: NICE TO MEET YOU ALL!!!!!!!

Welcome Xgrunt.
Did you bring this heat with you? LOL You will find a few bass lakes in area. Lake Alvin, Wall Lake, Lake Vermillion, & Lakota are some that just come to mind that have large mouth bass populations. Just south is Merindahl &  Missouri River in the Springfield area has great bass fishing.

Check out this page on GFP it has link to find some lakes

go get them!!!

there are several strains of largemouths around here. mostly northern strain. I have caught some that have a dull grass color without the distinct horizontal line. dunno what strain they are.

And if you like smallmouth bass we have LOTS of those in this state. Boji in Iowa may be a really good lake for you as well, lots of bass and panfish. I have never fished it myself, so I can't point you were to go if you head that way. This may not be the best place to come to if your heart is set on largemouth. We have em, but our muddy lakes around here are better known for walleye and perch.

I have found that the Bass fishing and the pan fishing at lake Henry near Scotland SD is great even from shore.  I have find myself driving there a lot of evenings and weekends to fish.  it's only a short 1 hour drive away.  Grin  Welcome to the board.  I too fish the elusive Bass, but am trying to learn how to catch these darn walleyes.  Good luck!

ive caught some nice smallies on brant east of madison and 81 ponds north of madison or a little south of arlington. The best smalley fishing i have had is on enemy swim which is a couple hours north on 29 and a little west, it also has some nice crappies in it. sorry if some of my spelling is wrong
